- White Roselle (a rare white-calyx variant of Hibiscus sabdariffa) is an annual or perennial shrub. The plant grows to about 1.5–2 meters in height, with dark green leaves and slightly reddish stems. Thriving in warm, humid tropical or subtropical climates, it blooms in summer and autumn. The flowers are ephemeral (opening in the morning and wilting by dusk), leaving behind a fleshy, edible calyx. The calyx of white Roselle offers a mild sweet-sour flavor.
