Variety characteristics:

• W1374 Chinese Five Color is a spectacular ornamental and edible hot pepper producing masses of upright, bullet-shaped mini chiles. The fruits progress through an extraordinary range of colors, beginning purple to lavender, fading through creamy white and pale yellow, then turning orange and finally ripening bright red. Multiple stages appear simultaneously, creating a vivid five-color display.
Vigorous plants develop an upright, heavily branched habit and can reach approximately 3–4 feet tall under favorable growing conditions. Established plants may carry hundreds of colorful peppers over an extended season, combining dramatic ornamental value with a useful culinary harvest.
The small fruits deliver assertive heat and an aromatic chile flavor. Use fresh or dried in hot sauces, chile oil, seasoning blends, stir-fries and other spicy dishes. Harvest red fruits for full maturity, or pick peppers at earlier color stages for a multicolored presentation. This variety also performs well in large patio containers. Provide full sun, warm temperatures, fertile well-drained soil and consistent moisture. Container-grown plants may remain smaller than those planted directly in rich garden soil.
