Variety characteristics:

• W1358 Crisp Sweet Oxheart is an upright romaine-type lettuce producing tender green leaves decorated with distinctive wine-red to reddish-brown speckles. Young plants begin with a relatively open leaf habit, then gradually form elongated, loosely wrapped heads as they mature. Broad leaves and substantial pale ribs provide a crisp, juicy texture with a mild, pleasantly sweet flavor. The attractive leaves are excellent for fresh salads, sandwiches, burgers, lettuce wraps, dipping, and serving with grilled or roasted meats. Space plants approximately 14 inches apart to allow full head development. This cool-season lettuce performs best in spring and fall. Prolonged heat can interfere with heading, encourage bolting, and produce tougher or more bitter leaves.
