U2686 Thai Luohan is an open-pollinated celtuce selection grown primarily for its thick, tender stems. Compact plants produce bright-green, elongated leaves and distinctive Luohan-shaped stems that are narrower at both ends and broad through the center. The stems have thin, pale-green skin surrounding tender green flesh with a fresh, mild aroma and crisp texture. Under suitable conditions, harvest typically begins approximately 55–65 days after transplanting. Individual plants may weigh about 1.3–2.6 lb, depending on climate, spacing and crop management. The stems are suitable for fresh preparations, stir-frying, pickling and other cooked dishes.
