- U2675 Purple Coral is a cool-season sprouting broccoli selected for attractive purple florets and repeated side-shoot harvests. Plants first develop a central flowering shoot, followed by multiple smaller shoots when the main stem is harvested. The compact flower buds range from violet-purple to deep purple and are carried on pale-green stems with varying amounts of purple coloration. Harvest the shoots while the buds remain tight and before the yellow flowers begin to open.
- The main shoot is typically ready approximately 110 days after sowing under suitable seasonal conditions. Continued harvesting encourages the development of additional side shoots, extending the picking period while temperatures and plant growth remain favorable. Purple Coral performs best during cool weather, with shoot development generally favored at approximately 50–68°F. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture and full sun during mild weather. Growth rate, color intensity, maturity, and side-shoot production may vary with temperature, sunlight, fertility, and planting season. The tender stems and compact florets are suitable for steaming, roasting, sautéing, stir-fries, soups, and other cooked preparations.
