- U2665 Jiemei Meitai No. 2 F1 is a mid-early hybrid choy sum selected for a thick central shoot and vigorous production of tender side shoots. Plants develop glossy green leaves with prominent veins and upright, succulent stems. The main flowering shoot is typically ready approximately 50–60 days after sowing. Once the central shoot is harvested, vigorous side shoots can be ready in approximately 15 additional days, allowing repeated harvests when plants receive adequate moisture and fertility.
- Main stems reach approximately 0.6 inch in diameter. Both the central and lateral shoots remain crisp and tender with minimal noticeable fiber when harvested promptly. The green stems, leaves, and compact flower buds are excellent for stir-fries, steaming, blanching, soups, noodle dishes, and other quick-cooked preparations. This hybrid performs in open-field plantings, high tunnels, and protected growing environments. It can be direct-sown or started as transplants. Space plants approximately 12 inches apart in rows about 16 inches apart. Harvest shoots before the flower buds open fully and follow each cutting with consistent irrigation and a light side-dressing to encourage rapid side-shoot regrowth. As an F1 hybrid, saved seed should not be expected to reproduce the same plant type or harvest characteristics in the following generation.
