Morphological Characteristics:
- Red fescue (Festuca rubra) is a cool-season perennial herbaceous plant. It grows to 40-60 cm tall, with erect culms or culms slightly geniculate at the base. Abundant narrow linear leaves sprout from the root base. This species features strong adaptability, prefers cool and humid climates, and grows well in high-altitude areas. It can thrive normally in partial shade. Characterized by early spring green-up, late leaf senescence, long green period, dark green foliage, resistance to trampling and tolerance to close mowing, it is widely used for turf establishment and greening in airports, courtyards, flower beds and wooded areas, serving as an ornamental turfgrass with fine performance. In addition, red fescue is palatable and can be used for grazing or haymaking.
