Characteristics of the variety:

- Pincushion flower (scientific name: Scabiosa atropurpurea) is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant of the genus Scabiosa in the family Caprifoliaceae (formerly Dipsaciaceae), native to southern Europe. It grows 30-60 cm tall with smooth, branched stems. Its basal leaves are nearly spoon-shaped, and the stem leaves are opposite, deeply to completely pinnately lobed, sparsely covered with long, white hairs. The capitula are terminal, with radially arranged florets along the margins. The corolla is 4-5 lobed and rich in color. The flowering period typically occurs from May to June or August to October, and is long-lasting. This plant is cold-tolerant but intolerant of hot, humid environments. It thrives in well-drained, loose, fertile, neutral soil. Propagation is primarily by sowing in autumn (sowing in either spring or autumn is acceptable), with an optimum germination temperature of 15-20℃. Due to its high ornamental value, it is widely used in flower beds, borders, and cut flower cultivation.
