- Oroxylum indicum, a small, upright tree belonging to the Bignoniaceae family. It has a tall trunk with grayish-brown, rough bark; large, 2–4 pinnately compound leaves; large, vibrant, purplish-red flowers with a labiate corolla, borne in terminal racemes; and a long, woody capsule containing flat, thin, translucent seeds with membranous, semi-transparent wings. It prefers warm, humid climates, is drought-tolerant but not cold-hardy, and tolerates poor soil. It thrives on warm, sunny slopes and riverbanks, and while not particular about soil type, it grows best in fertile sandy loam. With its beautiful flowers and uniquely shaped seeds, Oroxylum indicum can be used for landscaping and also helps purify the air. It is an ornamental plant with great development potential.
