Variety characteristics:
- Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a biennial herbaceous plant in the genus Verbascum of the family Scrophulariaceae. It is tall and upright, with the whole plant densely covered in light grayish-yellow star-shaped hairs, making it highly ornamental. In summer (June–August), it produces dense cylindrical spike inflorescences with bright yellow corollas; after flowering, ovoid capsules form, with the fruiting period lasting from July to October. Mullein is highly adaptable, preferring a sunny environment. It is cold-resistant, drought-tolerant, and has no strict soil requirements, even thriving in calcareous soil. However, it avoids low-lying and waterlogged areas. The entire plant can be used medicinally: it has a cool nature and a bitter-pungent taste, and possesses the effects of clearing heat and removing toxicity, stopping bleeding, and dissipating blood stasis.
