Variety characteristics:
- Monarda didyma L. (American mint) is an annual herbaceous plant in the genus Monarda of the Lamiaceae family, native to the Americas. The stem is nearly hairless; the leaves are ovate-lanceolate, up to 10 cm long, with a gradually pointed apex, a rounded base, and irregular serrations. The corolla is purple-red, and the flowering period is July. It has strong adaptability, preferring warm, humid, semi-shady environments, and can also tolerate cool, sunny conditions. It is intolerant of dryness, thrives in warm climates, and is not heat-tolerant. It can be sown in spring and autumn. With a long flowering period and uniform blooms, its fragrant branches and leaves offer excellent ornamental value. It is not only an excellent ornamental plant but also a valuable spice plant.
