Its verticillasters grow in spikes, producing blue-purple or pink flowers. It grows well in sunny locations with well-drained soil of dry to moderate moisture, and thrives particularly in moist, gravelly or sandy soil. Though it cannot tolerate prolonged rainy weather and humid conditions, it has excellent drought resistance. Its flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, making it an excellent garden ornamental plant.
