Green Superior Luffa Seeds - Early-Maturing, High-Yield Hybrid for Reliable Harvest
Overview
Green Superior Luffa is a premium, early-maturing hybrid variety developed through years of selective breeding. Known for its vibrant, glossy green fruits and robust growth, this variety sets its first female flower between the 5th and 10th node. It produces uniform, cylindrical fruits measuring 25-35 cm in length and 4-6 cm in diameter. With high yield potential (up to 5000 kg under careful management) and strong adaptability, it is an excellent choice for both home gardeners and commercial growers seeking a reliable and productive luffa.
Key Features
• Early Maturity: Starts fruiting early, with the first female flower appearing at the 5th-10th node on the main vine.
• Superior Fruit Quality: Features thin skin, tender and fine-textured flesh with a slightly sweet flavor, resistant to becoming tough.
• High Yield Potential: Exhibits a strong continuous fruiting ability, with the potential for very high yields under optimal conditions.
• Uniform Appearance: Produces straight, consistent, and attractive glossy green fruits.
• Strong Vitality: Shows good tolerance to heat and humidity, with overall strong stress resistance and wide adaptability.
Cultivation Guide
• Sowing & Transplanting: Start seeds in nutrient pots between Feb 15-Mar 28. Germinate above 25°C, then maintain around 15°C. Transplant under plastic tunnels on sunny days at the 2-leaf-1-heart stage.
• Spacing: Recommended spacing of 80cm (between rows) x 40cm (between plants), targeting about 2000 plants per mu. Alternatively, use wide-row intercropping with 3m row spacing and 20-30cm plant spacing.
• Training & Pruning: Use A-frame trellises for dense planting or flat trellises with nylon nets (25x25cm mesh) for wide rows. Pinch the main vine after 3-4 female flowers appear, removing the lowest one and retaining one strong lateral branch, repeating the process.
• Fertilization: Apply base fertilizer with 40kg melon-specific compound fertilizer, 50kg phosphate fertilizer, and 2500kg well-rotted manure per mu, mixed into the top 20cm of soil.
• Pest/Disease Management: During peak fruiting, monitor and control for melon fly and cotton leak (Phytophthora blight).
