Argentina Snake Gourd Seeds - High Yielding, Easy to Grow, Disease Resistant, Drought Tolerant, Wide Adaptability
Overview
The Argentina Snake Gourd is an early-maturing, high-yielding variety with vigorous growth. It offers flexibility in harvest — fruits can be picked when small and young, or left to reach a full length of 60 cm. In both stages, the fruit is tender, delicious, and of excellent quality. The variety also shows medium resistance to downy mildew.
Key Features
• Early Maturing & High Yield: Short growing cycle with strong productivity.
• Dual Harvest Flexibility: Harvest as baby fruit or mature 60 cm gourd — both taste great.
• Excellent Eating Quality: Delicate and flavorful flesh at any harvest stage.
• Mildew Resistance: Medium resistance to downy mildew.
• Wide Adaptability: Grows in various soil types; tolerates drought but responds well to irrigation and fertilization.
Cultivation Guidelines
• Seed Treatment: Soak seeds in 40°C hot water for 3 minutes with stirring. Then soak in clean water for 1 day, removing sticky coating. Crack the seed tip slightly, wrap in a moist towel, and place at 30°C for germination. Rinse daily. Sow when seeds just sprout.
• Sowing: Place one sprouted seed per pot horizontally, cover with 1 cm fine soil. Cover with plastic film to keep warmth and moisture. Keep temperature at 25–30°C before emergence, then 25–30°C day / 18–20°C night after emergence.
• Transplanting: Transplant when seedlings have 3 leaves and 1 growing tip. Spacing: 60–80 cm between plants. Plant density: 1,000–1,200 plants per 667 m².
• Watering: Needs consistent moisture. Water about once a week during hot weather to prevent early aging.
• Light & Soil: Prefers full sun, especially during fruiting. Adapts to most soils but performs best in fertile soil with ample organic base fertilizer.
Why Choose Argentina Snake Gourd?
• Flexible Harvest: Pick young or fully mature — both stages offer great taste.
• High Yield Potential: Vigorous vines with good fruit set under proper care.
• Easy to Grow: Tolerant of drought and poor soil, though responsive to water and fertilizer.
• Reliable: Medium downy mildew resistance for steady production.
