9 Salentino is a vigorous indeterminate tomato producing abundant clusters of elongated red cherry fruits weighing approximately 0.5–1.1 oz. Fruit shape can vary from slender plum and datterino forms to pointed teardrops or small bottle-shaped tomatoes, making this an interesting selection for growers who enjoy natural variation. The smooth, glossy fruits contain firm, meaty flesh with concentrated sweetness, a rich tomato aroma, and very little perceived acidity. Tall vines continue setting generous clusters throughout the season and require sturdy staking or trellising. The flavorful fruits are excellent for fresh snacking, salads, roasting, pasta dishes, pizza toppings, sauces, whole-fruit canning, pickling, and sun-drying.
