88 Dwarf Rumpelstiltskin is a compact tree-type tomato developed by Mississippi breeder Blane Horton from a cross between Dwarf Wild Fred and Keith Mueller's H-28 line. The sturdy dwarf plants typically reach approximately 2.6–3.9 feet tall, making them well suited to patios, raised beds, greenhouses, and large containers. Flattened, lightly to deeply ribbed beefsteak fruits in this seed line commonly weigh 3.5–5.3 oz and mature to a glowing golden yellow. The juicy yellow flesh offers a mild, fruity flavor with sweetness dominating the finish. Allow fruits to develop their full golden color on the vine for the richest flavor and highest perceived sweetness. Plants need little pruning, although training to one or two main stems can improve air circulation and simplify support. Use a short, sturdy cage or stake to hold the heavy fruiting branches. Excellent for fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, yellow tomato platters, sauces, preserves, and container gardens.
