696 Russian Bogatyr Tomato is a mid-season variety selected for open-field growing in Russia's central black earth region. It is a natural heirloom-type tomato, so seed is best saved from ripe fruit for planting the following season. The fruits are slightly flattened with pronounced ribbing at the base and weigh about 12.3 to 15.9 oz, with the first truss producing fruits up to 1.5 lb. As the fruit matures, the color changes from green to deep pink and red. The flesh is dense and aromatic, with classic heirloom tomato flavor.
