• 590 Vechnyi Zov, meaning 'Eternal Call,' is an early Russian variety bred in Siberia for dependable production in cool regions and short growing seasons. The vigorous, spreading regular-leaf plants bear substantial crops of round to oblate crimson-red beefsteak tomatoes with gently ribbed shoulders. Fruits commonly weigh approximately 7.1 to 17.6 oz in favorable gardens, while occasional first-cluster fruits may grow considerably larger. The dense, meaty interior has relatively small seed cavities and delivers a rich, aromatic tomato flavor with satisfying sweetness. Although officially classified as determinate, plant height varies considerably with climate and culture, ranging from compact field-grown plants to approximately 4 to 5 feet in greenhouses or long-season gardens. Strong cages or stakes are recommended to support the numerous heavy fruits. Excellent for slicing, sandwiches, salads, sauces, and fresh tomato juice.
