• 588 Boronia is a highly regarded dark-fruited variety developed through the Dwarf Tomato Project. Sturdy, upright dwarf plants feature thick stems and broad, rugose regular-leaf foliage, generally reaching approximately 2 to 4 feet depending on container size and growing conditions. This seed lot produces abundant crops of oblate, sometimes lightly ribbed tomatoes weighing approximately 3.5 to 10.6 oz. The smooth, thin-skinned fruits ripen to a distinctive dusky rose-purple or burgundy-brown color, frequently accented by olive-green shoulders. Inside, the juicy crimson flesh has a smooth, meaty, almost buttery texture. Its rich, well-balanced flavor combines noticeable sweetness, classic tomato depth, and appealing fruity notes, sometimes approaching the intensity associated with Cherokee Purple.
