Variety characteristics:

• 583 Sandburg GWR is a productive midseason, green-when-ripe beefsteak tomato with vigorous indeterminate growth and regular-leaf foliage. Plants reach approximately 6 feet tall and bear large, round to slightly flattened fruits weighing approximately 7.1 to 14.1 oz. Their unusual skin blends olive green, bronze, amber, and dusky pink, with the pink coloration becoming stronger at full maturity. Inside, the spectacular bicolor flesh combines lime green, golden yellow, and vivid raspberry-red marbling, frequently forming a bright red starburst through the center. The fruits are exceptionally juicy and tender, with a rich, sweet tomato flavor and aromatic tropical-fruit notes reminiscent of kiwi. Highly productive plants require sturdy staking or trellising. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, salsa, and dramatic tomato platters.
