Variety characteristics:

• 582 Blue Bunny is a distinctive midseason anthocyanin tomato created by Michigan breeder Dean Slater. Vigorous indeterminate plants with regular-leaf foliage produce round, golf-ball- to saladette-size fruits weighing approximately 1 to 3 oz. The tomatoes mature to burnt orange, dusky red, or muted rose-brown, while sun-exposed areas develop smoky indigo-purple to nearly black pigmentation. Inside, the juicy pink-red flesh surrounds greenish seed gel, creating an attractive multicolored appearance when sliced. The flavor is lively and lingering, combining classic tomato richness with noticeable tanginess and mild acidity. Excellent for snacking, salads, fresh salsa, appetizers, and colorful tomato platters. The variety may still show color variation, so individual plants can produce either orange-red fruits with dark markings or a more extensively purple phenotype.
