57 Utyonok, whose Russian name means "Little Duckling," is a very early compact determinate tomato developed for containers and small gardens. Dense dwarf plants typically reach approximately 14–22 inches tall and feature attractive regular, rugose foliage. They produce bright orange-yellow fruits weighing approximately 1.1–2.8 oz, ranging from round and oval to slightly heart-shaped, often with a distinctive pointed blossom end resembling a tiny duck's bill. The firm, meaty, juicy flesh offers pleasant sweetness and a balanced tomato flavor. Fruits resist cracking well and are suitable for fresh eating and whole-fruit preserving. Plants generally require no pruning, although a short stake may help support a heavy crop. An excellent choice for pots, window boxes, patios, raised beds, cool-season gardens, salads, snacks, pickling, and canning.
