• 551 Emerald Green is a green-when-ripe tomato producing attractive clusters of bright emerald-green fruits marked with deeper green striping. The fruits are elongated oval to small plum-shaped and typically weigh approximately 1.8 to 2.5 oz. Vigorous indeterminate plants can reach approximately 5 to 6 ft tall and benefit from staking or trellising. The juicy fruits are notably sweet with a fresh, fruity flavor. Because the skin remains green at maturity, ripeness is best judged by a slight softening of the fruit and a change from hard, glossy green to a softer, more yielding texture.
