523 Sweet Casady is a distinctive open-pollinated tomato developed by American breeder Tom Wagner from a cross between Raisin Vert and Casady's Folly. Vigorous indeterminate vines produce attractive clusters of elongated plum-shaped cherry tomatoes measuring approximately 1.2 to 2.4 inches long. The fruits ripen to red or orange-red with winding golden-yellow stripes, sometimes ending in a small pointed tip. Dense flesh, relatively few seeds, and a mild, sweet flavor make them excellent for fresh snacking, salads, lunch boxes, garnishes, roasting, and whole-fruit canning. The fruits are also noted for maintaining good quality after harvest. Tall vines require sturdy staking or trellising and can continue producing until frost under favorable conditions.
