Variety characteristics:

• 494 Sergeant Pepper Blue Heart is a tall, midseason heart tomato selected by American breeder Jason Hines in Virginia. Vigorous indeterminate vines can reach approximately 6.6 ft and carry medium-sized fruits that usually weigh about 4.2 to 4.9 oz, with exceptional fruits reaching approximately 7.1 oz. The broad hearts ripen with deep purple to near-black shoulders over a pink-red lower half. Cut fruits reveal attractive pink to deep red flesh with a rich, sweet, aromatic flavor and gentle acidity. The plants have a relatively light, wispy structure and perform best in full sun with fertile soil. Train them to one or two main stems and provide strong support for the long trusses and heavy fruit clusters.
