• 492 Dwarf Purple Heartthrob is a compact, productive tomato developed through the Dwarf Tomato Project. Rugose, regular-leaf plants reach approximately 2.3 to 2.6 ft and produce strongly heart-shaped fruits weighing about 3.5 to 8.8 oz. The tomatoes ripen to a rich purple or burgundy color with nearly metallic-looking green stripes and streaks. Inside, the flesh is a deep burgundy crimson with a juicy texture and full, balanced tomato flavor. This midseason variety matures in approximately 80 days from transplant under the reported growing schedule. Its compact habit makes it well suited to garden beds, raised beds, and large containers, although sturdy support is still helpful when the branches carry a heavy crop.
