• 449 Taras Bulba is a productive midseason tomato bearing large, broad heart-shaped to flattened heart-shaped fruits averaging approximately 10.6 oz, with exceptional fruits reaching about 17.6 oz. The tomatoes mature to a beautiful pink-scarlet or deep raspberry-red color and often develop gently ribbed shoulders. Dense, meaty flesh contains relatively little gel and delivers a rich, full-bodied, old-fashioned tomato flavor balanced by pleasant sweetness and refreshing acidity. Plants remain compact to medium-sized outdoors but may reach approximately 4.9 feet in a greenhouse, requiring dependable staking to support the heavy fruit clusters. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, juice, roasting, tomato paste, ketchup, and thick sauces.
