Variety characteristics:

• 44 Echo is a distinctive midseason, determinate green-when-ripe tomato producing large, flattened beefsteaks with gently to deeply ribbed shoulders. Fruits typically weigh approximately 7.1–12.3 oz and mature from deep green to an unusual yellow-green, olive-gold, or golden-bronze color. Inside, the meaty white-green to emerald flesh is juicy and relatively low in seeds, offering pronounced sweetness, mild acidity, and a gentle fruity finish that may vary with growing conditions. Compact to medium-sized plants generally reach approximately 2–3.9 feet, making this variety suitable for garden beds, raised beds, large containers, greenhouses, and high tunnels. Although the plants are determinate, sturdy staking or caging is recommended to support the heavy beefsteak fruit. Harvest when the skin develops a warmer, more uniform green-gold color and the fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure. Excellent for fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, green tomato platters, salsa, sauces, purée, and colorful mixed-tomato displays.
