• 408 Wessel's Purple Pride is a vigorous, midseason paste tomato producing elongated plum-shaped fruits weighing approximately 5.3–8.8 oz. The unusual fruits mature to deep mahogany-purple or blackish purple, often retaining olive-green shoulders that darken as they ripen. Their shapes naturally range from thick, rounded plums to longer, tapered fruits with pointed blossom ends. Inside, the dense burgundy flesh contains approximately three main seed cavities with relatively little gel and few seeds. Rich sweetness, savory tomato depth, and a gently spicy finish make this variety equally rewarding fresh or cooked. Indeterminate vines can reach approximately 6.6 feet and produce their heaviest harvests during the latter half of the season.
