385 Copper Pipe is a new midseason Russian tomato selection attributed to breeder N. V. Zhegalin. The vigorous indeterminate plants can reach approximately 6.6 feet and perform well in plastic-covered greenhouses, peaked greenhouses, and open-ground gardens. Train plants to two main stems and provide strong staking or trellising. Smooth, glossy fruits are round to slightly flattened and weigh approximately 5.3–7.1 oz. As they mature, the skin develops a distinctive ochre, copper-brown, or chocolate-brown color with a green to greenish-brown shoulder. The dense flesh is juicy yet firm, with a rich tomato taste suited to fresh eating. Its attractive copper-toned appearance and productive growth make it an excellent choice for specialty markets, fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, and collector gardens.
