Variety characteristics:

• 345 Junior Sergeant is a striking midseason anthocyanin tomato producing broad, rounded heart-shaped fruits weighing approximately 5.3 to 8.8 oz in this seed line. The smooth tomatoes mature to deep pink, raspberry-red, and rich rose-red, while sun-exposed shoulders and sides develop dramatic indigo-purple to nearly black pigmentation. Fruit shape ranges from plump hearts with blunt ends to gently tapered hearts with small pointed tips. Inside, the dense yet juicy crimson to raspberry-colored flesh contains relatively small seed cavities and delivers abundant sweetness, rich tomato flavor, and a pleasant fruity finish. Slender indeterminate plants develop fine stems and somewhat drooping foliage, growing approximately 6 to 6.5 feet tall under favorable conditions and producing over an extended season. Train the vines to two or three main stems and provide sturdy staking or trellising. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, caprese, tomato platters, juice, salsa, roasting, purée, and richly colored sauces.
