34 MärchenMonster, meaning "Fairy Tale Monster" in German, is a distinctive midseason indeterminate tomato created by Kleverhof in Germany. Vigorous regular-leaf vines commonly reach approximately 5.9–6.2 feet tall and produce elongated oval to plum-shaped fruits weighing approximately 1.8–2.5 oz. Each fruit typically develops a subtle pointed tip and an unusual combination of deep mahogany, rusty brown, chocolate, olive-green, and dark golden striping. The remarkably firm fruits have tight skin and a dense, crisp texture that remains pleasantly crunchy rather than becoming soft or mushy. Their excellent sweet and savory tomato flavor is accented by gentle acidity and an appealing spicy finish. The durable fruits hold well after harvest and are especially useful for gardeners seeking tomatoes with attractive color, firm texture, and extended keeping quality. Train plants to one or two main stems and provide sturdy stakes, cages, or trellising. Excellent for crisp fresh slices, salads, appetizers, salsa, roasting, drying, pickling, canning, and extended short-term storage.
