Variety characteristics:

• 339 Tundra is an outstanding early-to-midseason dark oxheart tomato producing substantial fruits weighing approximately 7.1 to 17.6 oz in this seed line, with most fruits commonly reaching 8 to 14 oz. The broad, plump hearts ripen through dusky rose, smoky bronze, mahogany, and purple-brown, often retaining olive-green shading around the shoulders. Beneath the clear skin, the dense, exceptionally meaty flesh develops intense crimson, raspberry-purple, and burgundy coloring with darker gel surrounding the small seed cavities. Nearly coreless and remarkably low in seeds, each fruit delivers deep sweetness, balanced acidity, and a mellow, full-bodied flavor with savory, wine-like complexity. Moderately vigorous indeterminate plants develop broad potato-leaf foliage and perform especially well in cool summers and short-season gardens. Provide a sturdy cage or trellis and support the largest fruit clusters as they fill. Excellent for thick fresh slices, tomato sandwiches, salads, burgers, caprese, roasting, canning, paste, purée, and richly flavored sauces.
