Variety characteristics:

• 329 Black Heart of America is an impressive midseason dark oxheart tomato producing substantial fruits weighing approximately 10.6 to 26.5 oz in this seed line. The tomatoes range from broad, rounded hearts to plump oxhearts and occasional flattened forms, ripening through deep crimson, burgundy, mahogany, and rich chocolate-brown, often with dark olive-green shading around the shoulders. Inside, the dense, exceptionally meaty flesh develops dark red to wine-burgundy coloring with small seed cavities and relatively few seeds. Each heavy slice delivers abundant sweetness, rich classic tomato flavor, subtle fruity and smoky notes, and very little perceived acidity. Tall indeterminate plants develop slender, slightly drooping regular foliage, commonly reach approximately 6 feet, and produce generously from midseason onward. Train the vines to one or two main stems and provide a heavy-duty cage or trellis with additional support for the largest fruits. Excellent for thick fresh slices, sandwiches, burgers, salads, caprese, tomato platters, juice, roasting, purée, paste, and deeply colored sauces.
