298 Anna Meyer is an extraordinary mid-to-late-season American heirloom tomato producing massive, variable beefsteak fruits weighing approximately 17.6 to 35.3 oz, with exceptional specimens exceeding 2 lb. The melon-like tomatoes range from flattened and deeply lobed to broad heart-shaped, ripening in glowing golden yellow and warm orange beneath sweeping pink, raspberry-red, and crimson blushes. Inside, the exceptionally juicy, meaty golden-orange flesh is marbled with vivid pink and red radiating streaks, forming a brilliant crimson center with relatively few seeds. Rich honeyed sweetness, pronounced fruitiness, wonderful aroma, and very mild perceived acidity create an outstanding fresh-eating flavor. Vigorous indeterminate regular-leaf plants develop thick stems, generally reach approximately 5.6 to 6 feet tall, and carry clusters of two to four substantial fruits. Provide a tall, sturdy trellis and support the heaviest fruits individually as they develop. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, caprese, tomato platters, chilled soups, juice, roasting, and fresh sauces.
