271 Strawberry Sergeant F5 is an experimental midseason tomato selection producing plump, beautifully tapered heart-shaped fruits weighing approximately 3.5 to 10.6 oz in this seed line. The smooth to lightly ribbed tomatoes mature to coral pink, rose red, and dusty raspberry, with variable golden-green shoulders, warm orange blushes, and violet anthocyanin shading on sun-exposed areas. Inside, the dense, meaty pink-red flesh is juicy and tender, delivering pronounced sweetness, an inviting fruity aroma, and a rich tomato finish with gentle acidity. Vigorous indeterminate plants develop regular-leaf foliage and reach approximately 5.9 feet or taller, continuing to set substantial fruits through the main harvest season. Train the slender vines to one or two stems and provide a tall, sturdy stake or trellis to support the heavy heart-shaped fruits. Some variation in color, shape, size, and anthocyanin expression should be expected because this seed line remains at the F5 generation. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, caprese, tomato platters, roasting, juice, and fresh sauces.
