265 Cherokee Black Heart is a striking American tomato producing broad heart-shaped fruits weighing approximately 10.6 to 15.9 oz, with occasional fruits reaching larger sizes under favorable conditions. The lightly ribbed tomatoes mature from ochre red and brown-red to deep mahogany, purple, and rich ruby tones, creating an elegant dark finish on the vine. Inside, the tender yet substantial brown-red flesh is juicy, meaty, and richly flavored, with concentrated sweetness, gentle acidity, and a lingering fruity tomato finish. Vigorous indeterminate plants can reach approximately 5.5 to 6.5 ft and perform best when trained to one or two main leaders. Provide sturdy staking or trellising and support the heavy fruit clusters as they develop. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato platters, burgers, sauces, and rich summer bruschetta.
