Variety characteristics:

• 247 La Cadero No. 2 is a vigorous, tall, midseason indeterminate tomato selected for fruits substantially larger than the original La Cadero. The productive plants set impressive red beefsteaks weighing approximately 7–14 oz, with exceptional fruits potentially exceeding this range under favorable growing conditions. Fruits are typically round to oblate and may show gentle ribbing around the shoulders. The smooth skin ripens bright red to deep red, while the shoulders often develop attractive purple-brown to blue-black anthocyanin shading, especially in strong sunlight. Inside, the fruits are richly red, juicy, and meaty, with a full, complex tomato flavor and satisfying sweetness. Because of its vigorous growth and heavy fruit load, provide sturdy staking, caging, or trellising and allow generous spacing for airflow. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, burgers, sauces, and dramatic heirloom-style displays.
