23 Streets of Broken Lanterns is a striking Russian indeterminate tomato first introduced in 2020 by breeder N. V. Zhegalin. The vigorous, spreading vines can reach approximately 6.5 feet in open-ground gardens and may grow taller under greenhouse conditions. Large, slightly flattened beefsteaks typically weigh 7.1–8.8 oz, with larger fruits possible under favorable growing conditions. The fruits ripen to red, rose-red, or deep pink while developing dramatic blue-purple to nearly black anthocyanin shoulders where exposed to direct sunlight. Inside, the red to dark cherry-red flesh is juicy, substantial, and aromatic, offering pronounced sweetness followed by a pleasant fruity finish. Train plants to two main stems, remove excess suckers, and provide sturdy staking or trellising. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato platters, sauces, and preserving.
