Variety characteristics:
• 229 Zolotaya Rybka, also known as Goldfish, is a productive Russian midseason indeterminate tomato introduced to the Russian State Register in 1999. Vigorous vines typically reach approximately 5.6–6.6 feet and produce abundant clusters of smooth, elongated fruits weighing approximately 2.8–4.2 oz. The cylindrical to plum-shaped tomatoes finish with a distinctive pointed tip and ripen to brilliant golden orange or amber orange. Dense, juicy flesh offers pleasant sweetness, good tomato flavor, and excellent firmness, while the fruits typically contain only two main seed cavities. The variety is also valued for the beta-carotene content associated with its deep orange color. Train plants to one or two main stems and provide sturdy staking or trellising. Excellent for fresh eating, salads, roasting, sauces, colorful preserves, and whole-fruit canning.
