218 Honey Oxheart is a Russian family-bred tomato developed by crossing a privately preserved old-fashioned oxheart with a carefully selected Siberian variety. Although indeterminate, the plants show a relatively compact growth habit and commonly reach approximately 4.9 feet under greenhouse conditions. The productive vines set attractive pink-red to rose-red fruits ranging from rounded hearts to broad and elongated oxhearts. Large fruits commonly reach several hundred grams, while exceptional specimens may approach 2.2 lb with careful in-ground cultivation. The thick pink flesh is exceptionally tender, juicy, and meaty, with relatively small seed cavities and a pronounced honey-like sweetness. This adaptable selection was developed for relatively early production across a broad range of growing conditions. Train plants to two main stems and provide heavy-duty stakes, cages, or trellising. Large containers are also possible when plants receive ample root space, consistent moisture, and regular feeding. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato platters, juice, sauces, and preserving.
