• 217 Green Pineapple is an American heirloom-type tomato first recorded by John Hartman of Indianapolis, Indiana, in the 1991 Seed Savers Yearbook. The vigorous, regular-leaf indeterminate plants produce abundant large fruits weighing approximately 7.1–10.6 oz. Tomatoes are round to oblate beefsteaks with broad shoulders and gentle ribbing. At maturity, the skin and interior develop attractive olive-green, lime-green, and yellow-green tones, making this a distinctive green-when-ripe variety. The dense, juicy flesh delivers pronounced sweetness, mild acidity, and a pleasant pineapple-like tropical fruit character. Check ripeness by watching for warmer green coloration and slight softening rather than waiting for the fruit to turn red. Provide sturdy staking, caging, or trellising for the vigorous vines and heavy fruits.
