Variety characteristics:

• 209 Cherokee Green Pear is a productive midseason indeterminate tomato discovered as a pear-shaped sport of Cherokee Green by Tennessee seed saver Marianna Jones. Vigorous regular-leaf vines produce plump pear-shaped fruits weighing approximately 2.1–3.2 oz. The skin remains green when ripe, gradually changing from deep green to olive or chartreuse and developing an attractive yellow-to-amber blush. Inside, the vivid green flesh is firm, exceptionally juicy, and substantial enough for both fresh eating and kitchen use. Its refreshing, full-bodied flavor combines fruity sweetness with a lively tomato tang and lightly spicy notes. Harvest when the background color begins to brighten, an amber blush becomes visible, and the fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure; do not wait until it becomes overly soft. Plants may reach approximately 5.9–6.6 feet and perform best with sturdy staking, caging, or trellising. Excellent for snacking, salads, salsa, sandwiches, green tomato sauces, and colorful mixed-tomato platters.
