187 Marizol Purple is a German heirloom tomato associated with the Black Forest region and later introduced to American seed-saving circles through Joe Bratka. Vigorous midseason indeterminate vines produce large, flattened beefsteaks weighing approximately 6.3–12.3 oz in this seed selection. Fruit shape ranges from lightly ribbed to deeply pleated, with broad, substantial shoulders. The skin ripens to dusky pink, purplish rose, and muted olive-brown tones, often retaining green shading around the stem. Dense, juicy pink flesh may display green or olive marbling and darker seed gel. Its rich, sweet flavor carries pleasant fruity notes and a full classic tomato finish. Provide sturdy stakes, cages, or trellising to support the vigorous vines and heavy fruits. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato platters, and richly flavored sauces.
