148 Chinese Princess is a highly productive midseason indeterminate tomato developed through amateur selection in Russia. The vigorous regular-leaf plants can reach approximately 5.9 feet tall and perform especially well when trained to two main stems. Rounded to slightly flattened beefsteak fruits average approximately 7.1–8.8 oz and ripen to an unusual jade-green or olive-brown exterior, often retaining darker green coloring around the shoulders. Slice the fruits open to reveal striking emerald-green flesh with a juicy, tender texture and an inviting tomato aroma. The flavor is notably sweet, fresh, and mild, with enough brightness to provide a balanced finish. Because the fruits remain green when ripe, harvest them when the skin develops warmer olive tones and the fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure. Provide sturdy stakes, cages, or trellising to support the vigorous vines and heavy fruit production. Excellent for fresh slicing, salads, sandwiches, green tomato sauces, salsa, and colorful heirloom platters.
