136 Gull Casady is a highly productive midseason indeterminate tomato believed to have originated as a yellow-fruited selection of Tom Wagner’s Sweet Casady. Vigorous regular-leaf vines commonly reach approximately 4.9 feet outdoors and may grow to 6.6 feet or taller under greenhouse conditions. The plants produce generous clusters of uniform elongated plum, bottle-shaped, and finger-shaped tomatoes weighing approximately 0.7–1.1 oz. Fruits ripen from pale green to bright lemon yellow and golden yellow, decorated with subtle lighter-gold vertical stripes that may become less visible at full maturity. The pale yellow flesh contains a balanced proportion of juicy gel, seeds, and tender fruit walls rather than the dry, dense texture associated with many paste tomatoes. Its excellent sweet and lightly spicy flavor is complemented by a pronounced classic tomato aroma. Train the vigorous plants to two or three main stems and provide tall stakes, strings, cages, or trellising. The fruits hold well on the vine and remain attractive through an extended harvest period. Excellent for fresh snacking, salads, roasting, drying, whole-fruit canning, preserving, and colorful yellow tomato sauces.
