12 Scotsdale Road is a striking midseason indeterminate tomato producing flattened pink beefsteaks with dramatic anthocyanin coloring. The relatively slender regular-leaf vines commonly reach approximately 5.6–5.9 feet tall under greenhouse conditions and may approach 6.6 feet during a long growing season. Fruits typically weigh approximately 4.2–7.1 oz, although occasional larger specimens may develop under favorable conditions. Broad, plump shoulders and gentle ribbing give the tomatoes an attractive classic beefsteak form. As they ripen, the skin develops a luminous pearlescent pink, neon rose, and raspberry-red background topped by deep blue-purple, indigo, and nearly black anthocyanin splashes. Strong direct sunlight generally produces darker and more extensive shoulder coloration. The juicy, meaty flesh offers a rich tomato aroma and a well-balanced flavor led by pleasant sweetness with mild refreshing acidity. Train plants to one or two main stems and provide tall stakes, cages, strings, or trellising to support the vines and heavy fruits. Harvest when the lower shaded portion has developed its full pink color and the fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, burgers, salads, tomato plates, juice, salsa, and colorful sauces.
