1157 Almaty Yellow Tulip is a remarkably productive midseason indeterminate tomato developed in Kazakhstan by breeder Vitaliy Gennadievich Alifirov. The very tall potato-leaf plants produce elaborate, fan-shaped clusters that may carry 15–20 distinctive fruits. Each tomato weighs approximately 2.1–3.5 oz, with many averaging close to 2.8 oz. The eye-catching fruits develop a miniature tulip, bell, or blocky plum shape with smooth, substantial walls. They ripen from pale yellow to rich golden yellow and apricot orange, sometimes revealing rosy red or coral flame-like marbling across the skin and interior. The juicy golden-orange flesh delivers a notably sweet, rich flavor that is equally enjoyable fresh or cooked. Train plants to approximately four main stems and provide a tall, sturdy trellis to support their exceptional fruit load. Excellent for fresh salads, colorful platters, whole-fruit canning, yellow tomato juice, sauces, and golden ketchup. Pair with Almaty Red Tulip for an especially attractive mixed-color preserve.
