1150 Heart of Ukraine Red is an elegant early-season collector tomato originating from Ukraine and representing the red-fruited selection of the diverse Heart of Ukraine line. Medium-height plants produce an attractive crop of smooth, brilliant red oxheart tomatoes. The fruits develop broad, rounded shoulders that taper gracefully into long, pronounced points, with shapes ranging from wide hearts to elongated hearts. Their dense, meaty red interiors contain relatively small seed cavities and provide substantial slices without an excessive amount of gel. The pleasant flavor is sweet, rich, and well balanced, with enough gentle acidity to preserve a satisfying classic tomato finish. Provide sturdy staking or caging and train plants to one or two main stems where space is limited. Excellent for fresh slicing, sandwiches, salads, tomato platters, juice, sauces, and roasting.
