1138 Cookie Select is an early to mid-early indeterminate tomato developed and stabilized in Norway by Hélène Bergquist Orskaug from a selection of Cookie F1. Vigorous regular-leaf plants grow approximately 4.9–6.6 feet tall and produce attractive clusters containing about 8–15 fruits. The small cherry-plum tomatoes weigh approximately 0.5–0.9 oz and range from oval and teardrop-shaped to elongated plums ending in a distinct pointed tip. As they ripen, the fruits develop a rich brown-red to mahogany base accented by dark olive-green striping. The firm, thick-walled flesh remains exceptionally juicy, revealing purple-red interiors and striking green gel around the seeds. Its concentrated flavor combines pronounced sweetness and rich tomato aroma with complex savory, spicy, and subtly smoky notes. The firm fruits hold well after harvest and are excellent for snacking, salads, lunch boxes, drying, roasting, and colorful mixed-tomato platters. Provide staking or trellising to support the productive indeterminate vines and their closely packed fruit clusters.
